Report for ART Distribution and Nutrition support to needed PLHIV

South 24 PG Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (SNP+) is a community-based organization by, for and of the people living with HIV and AIDS. It is a plat form of the PLWHA (people living with HIV and AIDS) from where they can fight for their rights and against all discrimination. The network was formed on 21st November of year 2004 and was registered in 2005 under the Societies Registration Act. It was formed with Seven PLHIV 's of South 24 Parganas. Five Sub-Divisional Level Networks was also formed on 2010.We diversified into the field of Adolescent Healthy Reproductive Lifestyles and also tied up with Rotary International for Non-former Education in the year 2015-2016.
We have working more than 9000 PLHIV in South 24 Parganas, Howrah and Kolkata district, where we found that most of the people are belongs under bellow property. We all know that due to lock down situation all over India from 23rd March 2020 to till date, So they have not enough food for their family. The conditions of these clients are really miserable in this lockdown situation as many of them have no food for themselves and their family. In this situation SNP + working for this people who have not sufficient food.
We all know that due to lock down situation all over India from 23rd March 2020 to till date SNP + doing the work in hand to hand with various ARTC of South 24 Parganas, Kolkata, and Howrah. With the support of DAPCU Kolkata, CMOH of south 24 pargana, CMOH of Diamond Harbour and BMOH of Howrah area staff of SNP + has distributed ARV medicine to the nearest LAC and ICTC of those area not only that from the ICTC and LAC they have dispensed the drug to the clients house so that no one could Miss a single dose of ARV medicine. So, we are doing community dispensing of ARV drugs to the PLHIV clients of the remote areas of Hooghly, Howrah , South 24 Parganas and some areas of Kolkata, during the lockdown period. From the starting of lock down we have distributed 1924 Packets nutrition support to the needy PLHIV by our four ARTC (MRBH , SSKM, RPC, STM) and four LAC of south 24parganas and 243 packets distribution by home dispensing because they cannot abele in ARTC with the support of various stakeholders. We have also hired five motor cycles for distributing ARV drugs and nutrition support to the PLHIV clients of the remote areas of the above mentioned districts, we have distributed 950 ART through home delivery, and distributed 1400 ART to different LACs in south 24 Parganas and Howrah district. All these activities) have been technically advised and financially supported (Likes car hire, Truck hire charged) by NCPI+

Objective:


  • Many poor and needy PLHIV clients have no money to buy food, and therefore needs nutrition support.
  • Many PLHIV clients have no work during this lockdown period and so have no earnings. These people are fully dependent on nutrition support.
  • To ensure that the PLHIV clients of the remote areas, can so that the PLHIV clients do not miss a single dose of their ARV drugs.
  • Counseling on prevention of COVID - 19, is also done to the PLHIV clients while dispensing ARV drugs.

  • With the support of Interglobe Aviation Pvt Ltd, Indigo Airlines (CCU), catering units of CCU (Taj Sats and Oberoi flight service), SNP+ provided some dry food among 1800 PLHIV. All food's items were distributed through ART centers, LACs and some through home delivery. We also received foods support from "Manav Sewa Group "(100 Packets) and "DSWO South 24 Parganas " (100 packets), " IIMC" and "Back to Life" provided 167 packets dry food for our community people. We had hired two truck for six days, for community dispensing of ARV drugs and nutrition support, in various areas of Howrah, Kolkata and South 24 Parganas.

    World AIDS Day 2019 Observation Report

    1st December is celebrated as World AIDS Day. This year the theme was "Communities Make the Difference".

    South 24 PG Network for People Living with HIV/AIDS (SNP+), a state level social development organization observed World AIDS Day this year with various social mobilization activities through the medium of community dialogue programs in different places of South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. With the support of WBSAC&PS through Kolkata DAPCU, CMOH of South24 Parganas and CMOH of Diamond Harbour HD SNP+ put up stalls in different placesof Kolkata and South24 Parganas.

    Activities consisted of HIV screening,counselling, condomdemonstration andcondom distribution,various social mobilization activities to generate information on HIV/AIDS, awareness and also its prevention. Additionally, we made people aware aboutthe different initiatives taken bygovernment.

    In order to prevent the transmission of HIV, WBSAP&CS has initiated efforts through DAPCU to promote HIV related awareness and demand generation for HIV screening. To address the same, DAPCU is implementing its thematic area of activities i.e. "Know Your HIV Status " involving relevant Departments.

    WBSAP&PS successfully planned to organize HIV screening cum awareness stall in major bus terminus and Railway stations to reach the massfor availing their daily transport in and across Kolkata and South 24 Parganas area(South 24pgs, Health District and Diamond Harbour Health District).

    In Kolkata there were 4 stalls arranged for HIV screening from 29-11-2019 to 3-12-2019 by SNP+ in 4 different places:
    (i) Park circus, 4 No. Bridge
    (ii) Posta (Choumatha) Bus stop
    (iii) Firingi Kalibari Bus stop, Bowbazar.
    (iv) Kole Market Near Sealdah station

    InSouth24 Parganas, 4 stalls were organized for HIV screening from 9-12-2019 to 13-12-2019 by SNP+ in 4 different places:
    (i)Sonarpur Rail Station
    (ii)Amtala Bus Stand
    (iii)Baruipur Rail Station
    (iv)Canning Bus Stand.

    2 stalls were also arranged for HIV screening from 16-12-2019 to 20-12-2019 by SNP+ in 2 different places in Diamond Harbour:
    (i)Magrahat Rail station (Dhamua station)
    (ii)Kulpi Bus Stand.

    Apart from this, SNP+also coordinated and engagement of DST Member in connection with EMTCT Programme, World AIDS Day-2019 & IEC Campaign for the year 2019-20 from 25-11-2019 to 30-11-2019 and 1-12-2019 to 10-12-2019 in South 24 Parganas and Diamond Harbour HD from 12-12-2019 to 3-1-2020.

    In each stall, SNP+Outreach workers day long reached out to people and made them aware about the reason, prevention and control of HIV/AIDS through microphone announcement. SNP+ Positive Speaker spoke about their struggle to motivate and make people aware about their issues and concerns.Theatre artists conducted street plays, folk artists performed folk songs and magicians performed magic showsand their objective was to make people aware about HIV/AIDS.
